Sarah Shute

Sarah started teaching at MIT in 2020 and serves as the head coach for MIT’s field hockey team. Sarah has coached collegiate field hockey for the past 10 years, focusing on the holistic development of student-athletes’ mind, body, and sport-specific skills. As an undergraduate, she studied Hospitality Administration at Boston University, and completed her master’s degree from Boston University’s Wheelock School of Education studying Physical Education and Coaching with a specialization in coaching. In her free time, Sarah enjoys running and hiking. She has run three marathons, but also enjoys shorter distance runs. She loves getting to know the students at MIT and working with them to achieve their goals. She says, “Everyone has a different story to tell and I strive to promote a safe learning environment where students feel comfortable trying new things or fine-tuning their knowledge and skills.”
